We will be required to have a Divisional Liaison officer with the Kanawa Artillery & The Valley Division. This officer will also serve as Battalion Safety Officer, & Captain Kateman's & my Adjutant. Battalion Adjutant: 2nd Lieutenant (CS) Dennis Gardo. Date of Rank: 07 February, 2009
Additionally, as recognition of his dogged "combat" performance, Chris Creely will take over command of Company A of the 17th Michigan. Rank: 2nd Lieutenant (US). Date of Rank 07 February, 2009.
Please offer your congratulations to these able & loyal soldiers for their new positions.
I will continue to function as First Sergeant of the 17th, offering whatever help I can to the new Commander.
I would like to offer my humble thanks to our brother Ben Eure for taking on the job of commanding the 17th during its formative years. It was a position he did not seek (Ben has never sought ANY position of power or influence for himself), but he accomplished the task with good spirits, & diligence. I am thankful for the job he has done, & I am grateful for his presence among us.
Needless to say, we have set up the cadre for a larger organization. We will need to function "slick sleeved" at events as we have done in the past.
I remain,
Your Obedient Servant
Duke
